Dance and virtual reality get intimate… A selection of films in VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality) that radically upheave disrupt how we look at images and offer viewers novel sensations. In the heart of the Grand Hôtel-Dieu, savour a wide array of films to watch at your leisure, and experiment with a VR ballet directed by choreographer Fabien Prioville. At the Théâtre Nouvelle Génération – Ateliers Presqu’île, discover VR experiences to enjoy with friends.

Sharon Eyal – Half Life VR

Israeli choreographer Sharon Eyal has adapted her dance piece Half Lifeto virtual reality. An opportunity to get really close to dance and rediscover the Royal Swedish Ballet dancers who contributed to the work’s creation.

Tidal Traces

Tidal Tracesis a VR dance piece that puts spectators at the centre of the performance. Three characters explore a new and uncertain world that wavers between calm and worry, beauty and danger. Caught up in this tension, the spectator becomes the fourth character, directly composing the dance through their eyes.

Time stops, and the spectator is invited to take time out to discover a new choreographic vision of the cloister of the Grand Hôtel-Dieu, which, after nine centuries of history, is continuing its transformation. The space empties, reality is altered, and the crowd vanishes, giving way to music and dance. The spectator, wearing a VR headset, then enters a parallel reality where a work of dance is brought to life.

Fugue VR, réalité mixte

A circus artist and co-director of the National Choreography Centre (CCN) in Grenoble, Yoann Bourgeois has established himself in recent years as one of the most talented artists of his generation. Here, with film director Michel Reilhac, he revisits Fugue/Trampoline, adapting it to virtual reality! More than simply a film, Fugue VRréalité mixteis a collective experience for 10 participants.

World preview

In 2005, the two world-famous choreographers Akram Khan and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui created a duet entitled Zero Degrees. This year, special thanks to the original creators, AΦE created an augmented reality experience inspired by this masterpiece. Audiences will see a preview of the work at the festival.
